Management Systems

System development /

As a qualified auditor, certified by RABQSA within OHS Management Systems, I have conducted multiple management systems audits. Whilst employed with Harris Scarfe I undertook a management systems review, this involved the development of a checklist suited to the organisation, whilst fulfilling the management requirements of 7 individual OHS acts and the guidelines within AS4801.

OHS Management systems are a set of plans, actions and procedures used to systematically manage health and safety in the workplace. I have a thorough understanding of OHS Management systems and can provide a range of services in relation to OHSMS, ranging from system audits to system development.

The audit of the organisation was comprehensive, both desktop and physical based. This initial audit of the business result in reports issued for conformances, non conformances, and recommendations to achieve compliance. As the OHS Manager for the business I pushed the business to reduce their compliance gap, reducing the gap by 17.79% within 12 months.

Following the completion of auditing processes I began to map out an OHS management system, effectively designed to fill the gaps identified and strengthen existing areas.

An OHSMS is not a substitute for the law or the outcomes required by law, however an OHSMS can help an organisation to meet its legal obligations. The duty of care in workplace health and safety legislation is outcome based and the OHSMS is essentially a way of managing OHS.
